Malls Monitor Customers’ Cell Phones During Black Friday
Beginning on Black Friday and going through New Year's Day, two U.S. malls namely: Promenade Temecula in southern California and Short Pump Town Center in Richmond, Va., will keep an eye on visitors' actions by observing the signals from their cell phones. Even though the data that's collected is unidentified, it can shadow the customers' routes from store to store. The objective is for retail stores to answer questions such as: How many Nordstrom customers also drop by at Starbucks? How long do majority of consumers remain in Victoria's Secret? Are there out of favored areas in the mall that are not being stop at?
